Harrisburg Area Land Use Plan

When is construction on the New Fire Station #2 going to begin.  It was suppost to have begun in 2006 then in 2008 now its 2009 and no Fire Station.  This question has to be asked and answered NOW?????!!!!!!

Hats off to the folks that presented and moderated this kickoff meeting last night.  From my perspective (as a newcomer to community meetings in general), it was a success:  informative for the citizenry while allowing the planning bodies to get a proverbial finger on the pulse of the Harrisburg community from a land usage perspective.

Clearly there are no shortage of strongly held opinions of all shades about what Harrisburg is, what it could be, what it should be, and everything in between.  My hope is that the residents of this wonderful town can maintain their passion about Harrisburg's future without forsaking *compassion* for our neighbors -- those inside and outside the planning region.

Town of Harrisburg residents (especially LANDOWNERS):

DO NOT BE FOOLED that your "input" is what will drive what happens to the zoning in this town.

If the activities that took place at this meeting do not remind you of being in Kindergarten, they SHOULD.  Writing down on table size paper  "what's 'good' about Harrisburg" in the social, economic, and environmental areas and then seeing it "posted" around the school cafeteria walls.... come on!  This is only an "exercise" for appearances as a part of the game. 

The name of the game is "Cabarrus County (the WOLF) would like you to give them TOTAL CONTROL of what can be done with your property", to include EMINENT DOMAIN!!!!!

Research and inform yourselves as to the REAL results of company Land Design's "facilitation" re the land planning of CENTRAL  Cabarrus County and how much "voice" residents there REALLY had in the end.

TRUTH IS this "land planning" is NOTHING MORE than a POWER PLAY to change the zoning of this area that will ACCOMODATE AND ENABLE County POLITICIANS AND "LEADERS" to seize real estate parcels for whatever purpose they "deem" necessary while simultaneously stripping landowners of their rights to do anything about it because, after all.... the landowners participated in the planning that led to its approval!!!

The company "Land Design" will tell you it is not in favor and does not advocate eminent domain.  However, this company's efforts is the SET-UP by our County "Leaders" so that THEY can implement eminent domain after all current zoning has been successfully destroyed/replaced with PRE-PLANNED ZONING THAT WILL EFFECTIVELY STRIP LAND OWNERS OF THE RIGHTS THEY CURRENTLY ENJOY UNDER THE ZONING AS IT NOW STANDS.

WAKE UP HARRISBURG RESIDENTS!!!  

THE GROUP OF "RESIDENT" "ADVISORY MEMBERS" OF THIS PLAN WERE "CHOSEN" NOT BY YOU --- BUT HANDPICKED" BY TOWN "LEADERS" AND CABARRUS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. HOW MANY OF YOU WERE ASKED IF YOU WERE INTERESTED IN BEING ON THE "ADVISORY PANEL" OR EVEN INFORMED THAT "RESIDENT ADVISORY MEMBERS" WERE BEING SOUGHT?

WHY DID COUNTY COMMISSIONER CHAIR AND ATTORNEY JAY WHITE LEAVE THE MEETING NOT LONG AFTER BEING INTRODUCED TO THE RESIDENTS THERE???  AND WHY WAS ATTORNEY DAVID WILLIAMS, WHO IS ALSO FROM THE SAME LAW FIRM AS JAY WHITE, PRESENT????  COULD IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THIS FIRM IS ALSO HEADED BY STATE SENAT0R FLETCHER HARTSELL??????

COULD ANY OF THIS BE POLITICAL IN NATURE??? YOU THINK????

PLEASE CONSIDER THAT THE TRUE PURPOSE OF THE "LAND USE PLAN" IN CABARRUS COUNTY IS NOT AT ALL WHAT IS BEING PRESENTED..... BUT JUST AN INSIDIOUS AVENUE OF CHOICE BY THE CONTROL AND $$$$ MOTIVATED COUNTY "LEADERS" AND POLITICIANS TO ROB US OF YET ANOTHER "RIGHT" WE PROBABLY TAKE FOR GRANTED ....
